114-2 Beyond Grammar Rules: NTU Professor Debunks Myths and Shares Principles of English Writing
To help students overcome bottlenecks in English writing, the Bilingual Education Center recently hosted a featured lecture titled "Beyond Grammar Rules: Myths and Principles of English Expressiveness." We were honored to invite Associate Professor Shan-Yun Huang from the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at National Taiwan University as our keynote speaker. Drawing insights from his newly published book on English writing, Professor Huang thoroughly deconstructed common writing blind spots.
The lecture unfolded across three core themes. It began with "Debunking Writing Myths," guiding students to adopt an audience-centric "reader-mindset." Next, it explored "The Core of Expressiveness," sharing techniques on how to convey ideas clearly and precisely. Finally, it addressed "Post-Lecture Self-Directed Learning," offering practical paths for continuous improvement.
The event achieved a perfect 5/5 satisfaction rating. A student who received a copy of Professor Huang’s book enthusiastically shared, "I glanced through the book after getting home and was completely amazed!. I will definitely study it thoroughly and believe it will greatly benefit my future writing." The Center will continue to organize such high-quality lectures to equip students with practical, long-lasting bilingual skills.
