114-2 Empowering EMI TAs: A Collaborative Workshop by Our Center and NTU's Specialized Teaching Teams
(I truly enjoyed the session and found it very insightful),學到的技巧能立即應用於後續的教學實踐中。」
To strengthen the auxiliary teaching capacity for English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI), the Bilingual Education Center recently invited a combined team from both the Academic Writing Education Center (AWEC) and the EMI Teaching and Learning Center at National Taiwan University to conduct a practical training workshop for EMI Teaching Assistants (TAs).
This workshop was specially designed by the professional AWEC team and consisted of two core stages. The first stage featured a "60-minute In-person Immersive Session," which explained essential classroom idioms and expressions for TAs and provided specific coping strategies for common challenges in EMI settings. The second stage, a specialized thematic course titled "Leading Discussions Like a Pro," focused on facilitation techniques through practical analysis and drills, teaching TAs how to initiate and sustain meaningful classroom dialogue.
Participants spoke highly of the training. One student shared in their feedback: "I truly enjoyed the session and found it very insightful," while others described the workshop as "engaging and fun." Through lively hands-on instruction, once-daunting language structures and strategies became accessible, significantly reducing students' anxiety about leading bilingual discussions.
Moving forward, the Center will continue to collaborate with top-tier teaching teams domestically and internationally. We are committed to hosting diverse pedagogical workshops and providing abundant bilingual resources for our students and faculty, further realizing the long-term vision of bilingual education on campus.
